Chengdu: Taking Actions to Create World Modern Garden City

   2009年末，成都市政府以体现”天府之国“自然之美的神韵，响亮地提出了创建“世界现代化田园城市”的构想。现在成都城市化进程的速度越来越快，到处都是钢筋水泥，立交桥，人行天桥穿梭于城市间，我们的城早已失去了自然田园之美。

At the end of the year 2009, the Chengdu Municipal Government resonantly presented the concept of building Chengdu
into “A World Modern Garden City” to embody the romantic charms of the natural beauty of Sichuan--a land of abund-
ance. The pace for the urbanization of Chengdu nowadays has become faster and faster. With reinforced concrete every-
where and viaducts and pedestrian overpasses shuttling back and forth, our city has already lost her beauty of a natural
garden.

    所以成都提出的“世界现代化田园城市”正是为有一个自然之美的未来城市而努力。同学们成都要真正实现现代化田园城市的美好未来，市政府准备用五十年的时间来规划，建设。到那时美好的蓝图已变为幸福的现实，孩子们现在你们是见证者，十几年后你们也是真正的建设者，我们今天的学习就是为了回报社会，体现自己的价值，所以让我们一同关注成都“世界现代化田园城市”的建设。

Therefore, the concept of building Chengdu into “A World Modern Garden City” has been put forward so that we can
live in a better city with natural beauty in the future.   The Chengdu Municipal Government has prepared to spend 50
years on the planning and building to realize the beautiful future of a garden city.  By then, the good blueprint will have be-
come a happy reality.  You’re witnesses now, Children.  In more than 10 years, you will be real builders of the city, too. 
We are studying today in order to make contributions to society to embody our values.  So, let’s pay close attention to-
gether to the construction of Chengdu into “A World Modern Garden City”.
